Human beings continually seek to connect with the past, whether to satisfy simple morbid fascination or as a way to understand themselves. Whatever the reason this curiosity has led to many questions about the artifacts and monuments ancient civilizations and complex societies have left behind.

For thousands of years Ancient Egypt has left the world with an enduring sense of eternity. Often there are questions about how such an ancient people had the level of technology to create such impressive monuments and artifacts. Attention from the public is frequently focused on how the Great Pyramids were created; however, I would like to tell the story about some less well known examples of technology. Some of these examples include pottery, glass working, weaving, furniture making, farming, shipbuilding, and medicine. Come discover a few of these topics here with information that can hopefully instill as much a sense of wonder that Carter had when first peering into the unknown.

“…as my eyes grew accustomed to the light, details of the room within emerged slowly from the mist, strange animals, statues, and gold – everywhere the glint of gold. For the moment – an eternity it must have seemed to the others standing by – I was struck dumb with amazement, and when Lord Carnarvon, unable to stand the suspense any longer, inquired anxiously, ‘Can you see anything?’ it was all I could do to get out the words, ‘Yes, wonderful things.”
